Where the grass is a little greener.

Well it's definitely to feel like summer here in London. It's been sunny recently and it's definitely sunny today. I really miss the sun, it just makes everything brighter, although it does drain most of your energy out. Well I was only able to take a few pictures of the grass (that sounds slightly weird) but yeah, hope you like this one! What's everyone doing this Easter? (:

God's blodshot eye.

It's been a while since I've posted up something. It has been very busy with exams, and lots of other things a teenager has to deal with, but during those times that I have been busy, there has been something I've noticed. If there's anything that fascinates me I would say it's the sky. I mean, there's just so much in it and no one even realises. It's like a huge blanket over the earth and although it mostly looks blue all the time (okay, I'm starting to sound like a freak) it actually has SO MANY colours. What mostly stood out though is the red sky London had in one of the sunsets, which is what you can see in my photos on this post. And also, before I end this post, I would like to see some suggestions about what I could watch out for next on my little photography expeditions! Comment and you could be responsible for the next post!

It's a little breezy outside.

Jessica Radomska

Michaella Tafalla

Richmond Park - 05 February 2011.

The most amazing time shooting at the most amazing park in Richmond. It was complete exhaustion to get up the hill with all our clothes, make up, props, shoes, make up, just everything! To add on to that, the wind was blowing so hard it need pulled out all the trees out of the park and to our greatest dissapointment we didn't see any dears! But, no worries because the shoot was great. I was right about the choice of models: Jessica (Adelle) Radomska and Michaella (Alexis) Tafalla, they were amazing (specially coping about the weather situation). I set out each outfit to a NATURAL, FLIRTY & ROCK CHICK effect. Locating each shoot in different areas of the park, (the one where the girls are wearing flowery dresses, this was in Pembroke Lodge). It was a crazy day, but it all turned out well. I chose Jessica and Michaella purposely because of their difference in race, contrasting in every single way, from their skin tone, to the shape of their eyes. I'm sorry there's only a few pictures up there, it's really hard to choose because of the picture limit! Hope you like it, feedback please.

When you put your ear close to it, you'll hear it.

Living in a country where everywhere you go you must wear about 20 layers of clothes, you're fortunate enough to get the sun shining when you visit the lovely beach of Bournemouth. These photos were taken using my friend's phone while we took advantage of the few minutes that the sun decided to come out of it's cloud. I wanted to capture the softness of the water and the delicassy of the froth and the smoothness of the sand that was gently washed up and down the shore. But at the same time, I still want people to remember that the power of water is often underestimated. Water is an amazing and versatile element to have in photographs to create an incredible result is used correctly. Careful though, you can never expect to get wet!

A well earned medal.

I was washing my hands just earlier on, and after I dried my hands, I looked down at my tap and I thought, what would I do without a tap? Sounds silly, I know. But let's think about it, not many people have easy access to this wonderful soldier. A lot of people die without him, many get diseases because governments are just too lazy, selfish or naive to pay him for a lifetime's duty to a needy country. So I think this little warrior deserves a well earned medal.

Quite a different point of view.

I have to say, this is one of the best shots I have ever captured being a beginner in photography. As I have previously mentioned a lot of times, I love textures of any kind. This is my best friend's eye, and I compliment her every day about it. I wanted to portray the different textures in just one part of the human face. You can see the natural texture of the skin, so striking, almost close the touch and in contrast to that is the smoothness of the eye. Implying the delicate sense of seeing. The dark hairs on her eyebrows are highlighted to make a contrast between her pale ivory skin. The fact that her eyelashes are fanned out, you can infer from the photograph that in order to see the true beauty of the world, your eyes must be open and so should your mind.

Rays of light.

After an amaaaazing day out, I witnessed a gorgeous sunset by Heathrow Airport. It was freezing although the pictures look warm. With the first picture, (with my amazing bestfriend, Katie), I wanted to capture the good old effect of using distances and use of texture. I edited them using Photoshop, brought the exposure down completely and brought the colours brighter. The sky's colour was amazing that day, so it contrasts the lower part of the picture and the different direction the light runs in.

it's a British thing.

Having lived in London for five years now, I have never seen it's nightlife and it's absolutely incredible. The lights, the people, the contrasting colours, the water reflection and just the busy-ness of the city. It seems like it never sleeps (not ripping off New York here btw!). It was an amazing day! I spent it taking pictures, although it was quite windy and cold, it paid off! I am invlove with lighting and water reflections although it is quite hard to capture a perfect shot of the reflection. Also, it's difficult having to make use of your iPhone instead of an awesome camera. But don't worry guys, should have one quite soon .. I think.

A fluorescent light bulb and curling tongs.

Who says you need a flash the same size as an umbrella to get good lighting? Here are a few pictures I took experimenting with my floor light and a few curls here and there on my cousin's hair. I am obssesed with Photoshop and other editing softwares and I try my hardest not to use it too much to show the true light of the picture. Feedback please!

Different shades of blue, or maybe pink.

It's incredible how many shades the sky could carry. It's my first time to see the sky pink-ish a few weeks ago, so my jaw dropped instantly when I saw the sky that shade. Judging from the last post I did, you might've guessed that I love nature. I love being outdoors, just hoping to catch a really good shot. I was in my bestfriend's car when I took the last two pictures, and it was so tricky to get it right because the car was moving and the ''PML'' truck got in the way!

A small point of view.

In my last blog I mentioned that some photographers are ''chance takers'' and here's a perfect example. It was a nice sunny day in the school grounds so I decided to take advantage of it. I love capturing textures, patterns and natural light. It's amazing how the small and simple things in our everyday lives, nature in this case (although nature isn't really small), just goes by being unnoticed. To capture the delicate pattern on an autumn leaf, and realising how much there is to it, I find amazing. Also, one of the things I love about pictures on a sunny day is the sun. The way it reflects on everyday, and making the true colours of nature really shine through.

Deciding the focus point.

At the moment I use my iPhone to capture all of my pictures due to shortage of money, when you're a teenager and living with your parents every penny counts!

One of the most important points in a photographic composition, whether it's when you are just out and about in the wildlife or just a simple family get together, is the main focus of the picture. In this case, it's my cousins here. I am really close to them because they grew up with me so therefore I wanted to capture that same glow I see when I'm with them. Photography for me is all about trying to get people to see through the lens of a camera. (I have to say though, trying to take a picture of an extremely hyper baby was pretty difficult!) Photographers, professional or beginner (which is what I am), will spend forever looking for the right and perfect subject. Choosing the main focus of a picture only lies within a person's interest. Photography is just as much as an Art than anything like Fashion Designing or Painting. I would call some photographers ''chance takers'' due to the fact that they never know when their camera is needed. Professional photographers work in studios with the fancy lighting, expensive cameras, various lenses and high end computers, I would say that that is only one side of the world of photography. An expensive camera isn't needed to be able to capture a good shot, the beauty of the moment will shine through the interest that was put in.
